The Way to His Heart...

This is one of the Kalu'ak dialy quests.

It took some reading on the net before I found all the information I need to do this quest.

To do this quest you must have completed the series of quest associated with Orfus of Kamagua.

Once you have completed these quest you can than talk to Scuttle Frostprow and get the Swabbin' Soap quest. If you have not completed the Orfus quests she will attack you instead of talking with you.

Once you have completed that quest you can start doing The Way to His Heart... daily quest.

PVP Pet Strategies

Possible PVP Pet Strategies

Petopia is a great site for analyzing your pet.

MesterBite- Do as much damage as I can in Eyes of the Beast and than when the opponent is frozen. Attack the second opponent.

Frosty - Send him to attack adding a hunter's mark if possible and just shoot like I would in PVE. I will have to play them some, but I think that IceDog might be better. Just have to see how much they slow the opponent down.

IceDog - Send him to attach just like I would Frosty. Have to see how much damage he can do.

Cat - The cat only gives an advantage if I want to be invisible.

Stubby - I don't know if Stubby will be of much PVP, but he may be useful in the battleground. His Stampede might be very useful for guarding the flag in battle ground. Also his other abilities might be good a protecting a priest or other player. However, the one minute cooldown of the Stampede might make him less useful in PVP.

Hunter Glyphs

This is a nice intro to Glyphs: http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/10/14/a-brief-introduction-to-glyphs/

The is a list that can be filtered for the glyphs: http://www.wowhead.com/?items=16

Use the "

This looks like an interesting Glyph. It is called the Glyph of Possessed Strength.

Surley at level 70 I can have 2 major and 3 minor glyphs. At level 80 I can have 3 major and 3 minor.

What glyphs should I get for Surley?

These are the major ones that look interesting from a PVP arena stand point. I can choose two.
  • Aspect of the Beast - Increases the attack power of Aspect of the Beast for me and my pet by 2%. This would be really good if it was more than 2%.
  • Glyph of Bestial Wrath - Decreases cooldown by 20 seconds.
  • Glyph of Disengage - Decreases the cooldown by 5 seconds.
  • Glyph of Freezing Trap - when the trap breaks, the victim's movement speed is reduced by 30% for 4 seconds. That is a long time in the arena.
  • Glyph of Immolation Trap - This looks really nice. The time it takes to do the damage is reduced from 15 to 9 seconds and the amount of damage is increased from 1136 to 2272. This would be very useful outside of arena. I like to drop this trap and draw something towards me. This would do a lot of damage. What is the difference between my health and the health of a warrior? If I ran into this trap it would take away 20% of my health in 10 seconds.
I don't think the other major glyphs would help me that much in PVP.

These are four minor glyphs. I can use three.
  • Glyph of Possessed Strength - Increases the damage my pet inflicts while using Eyes of the Beast by 50%. This is major. I could change the way I play. I would drop two freeze traps in front of the character. The use the Eyes of the Beast and use the Dash to increase my speed by 80% for 16 seconds. With 30% add from Boar's Speed I should fly. 100 + 30 + 104 = 234. The two freeze traps would give me a 20 seconds to help finish off the second guy. If I could last for an one minute I would also be able to drop the Immolation Trap.
  • Glyph of Mend Pet - This might get rid of the need to have pet food and free up a slot.
  • Glyph of Revive Pet - I don't revive the pet much, so this may not as useful.
  • Glyph of Feign Death - I don't use this a great deal. This only changes the cooldown from 30 to 25 seconds.

My Journey from 70 to 80

Started Surley in Howling Fjord but was having trouble doing some of the beginning quest. I switch to the Borean Tundra and have not looked back.

Level 71 13/20 on Nov 21, 2008

Having all the daily quest for Kalu'ak. I am working towards getting their Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole. This thing does 186.5 damage a second, add +30 to fishing, and allows underwater breathing. However, I must be Exalted with the Kalu'ak to get it. You can get this at level 70 with a fishing skill of 300. So as soon as I get Exalted, which may take some time, I can get it. It is a

Too bad it doesn't have the buffs that a normal weapon would have (no critical strike, hit rating or attack power). There is a claim on the above web page that you get critical strike according to your skill points. (0.0.4 per point or +16 to 18).

For my main malee weapon I plan to get the Whale-Stick Harpoon also from the Kalu'ak. I must be 78 before I can buy. It does 156.1 damage per second and has +69 Agility, +103 Stamina, +40 hit rating (1.41 % @ 78), and +100 attack power. I am hoping that I can do well enough in the arena to replace it with something better. If not I will have to go through the battle grounds or buy something.

The plan is to get to level 80 as quickly as I can and than start doing the areas with gear that I have.

I also plan to get the Cuttlefish Scale Breasplate when I hit level 76. It has 1055 Armor, +56 Agility, +84 Stamina, +32 Intellect, and +82 attack power. Is a blue or Rare quality item.

Most of what I have is green or Uncommon epic quality, except to two item my nephew got for me, the Leggings of Beast Mastery and the Horrorblood Treads. The leggings are Epic and the boots are Rare. I don't know how much he paid for these but I know they were not cheap.

This site here gave a nice description of the item quaility and there colors: http://www.wowwiki.com/Quality

Victories and Defeats

Kills:

  1. Enallekhaj - level 70 - think this may have been a priest. My pet was set on aggressive. Switch to beastal wrath when I realize that my pet was attacking something. I almost died even with the guards help. Took some healing potion right before I died and that just barely got me by. 20 points for an honorable kill.
Killed By:

  1. Zarco - Level 70 - Not sure what she is. I could have simply attack her. But she attacked me after she was done. Sneeky.
  2. PK- I have seen this guy before. Killed again. No honor for him. Engineer Horde. Didn't know.
  3. Windroc (70) and Solarth (70) while I was fishing. Should be no honor when someone is fishing :-)
  4. Gurgock
